Kyle Field Renovation Begins After Saturday's Game

College Station--

Kyle Field will undergo a $450 million renovation just two hours after the Texas A&M football team takes on Mississippi State.

Cranes and backhoes will begin to dig eight feet into the ground to sink the field and provide room for 20,000 more fans.

"Back in the 70's we were the Cadillac, now we're the Model A. Now we're going to get back to being the Cadillac again. It's exciting because it's a new challenge," said Athletic Field Maintenance Manager Leo Goertz.

Goertz has been working at Kyle Field since he became an Aggie in 1978. Fans are also feeling nostalgic.

"All the military tradition associated, all the great football games held here--for it to be a different site next year--it will be a different feeling," said tailgater Mark Burns.

"We're going to go out and find the best answers and give it our best shot and make it work," said Goertz.
