COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Halloween is less than three weeks away and one organization is selling pumpkins to raise enough money to build a home for a family. Habitat for Humanity's annual pumpkin patch is taking place at the Presbyterian church on Rock Praire near Wellborn Rd.
This is the biggest fundraiser for the group. To build a home, they need to raise around $70,000 from all of their events. At the pumpkin patch last year, they sold around 4,000 pumpkins and raised about $26,000.
This year, they hope to raise $30,000 so that a family in need can get a home.
"We had a lady who lived in a trailer with her kids come to a meeting and she told us that having Habitat for Humanity build her a home was a life changing experience and now her kids have a decent place to live," said Clark Nastri, the director of advocacy for the organization.
The pumpkin patch is taking place everyday through this Saturday. The prices of the pumpkins range from $1 to more than $30, that all depends on the size.
