The event is geared towards taking a tragic event like the Las Vegas shooting and turning it into a training tool to help prevent events like it in the future.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Dozens of area first responders joined forces for the third annual First Responders Symposium.

This Year's symposium featured two guest speakers who were instrumental in responding to the tragic Las Vegas shooting that happened on October 1, 2017.

"Hopefully we can help other communities in lieu of our tragedy perhaps through lessons learned such as how to stop the bad guy and two how to we take care of those mass casualties," said Las Vegas Metro Police Medical Director Dale Carrison.

The event is geared towards taking a tragic event like the Las Vegas shooting and turning it into a training tool to help prevent events like it in the future.

"With the world we live in now there is going to be another event. So, it's a great opportunity for us to share intelligence on what went right as well as the things that went wrong so we can be better prepared," said College Station Police Lieutenant Steve Brock.

It's a break from their daily routine but with many major events happening in our area -- It's an opportunity to learn valuable skills that can be implemented into the various agencies.

"I think what we will start to implement in years to come is practical application where we break up into teams and solve problems together. It's a dangerous world we live in but how do we minimize damage and loss of life?", said CapRock ER Physician Andy Wilson.
