Assistant County Attorney looking to fill Rod Anderson's office

Eric Quisenberry is seeking the Brazos County attorney position currently held by Rod Anderson.

Eric Quisenberry is no stranger to the Brazos County Attorney's office.

He serves as the chief trial prosecutor for criminal cases pending in Brazos County Court at Law No. 2.

“This office has worked to ensure the safety of this community. To make sure that the citizens of Brazos County are supported, justice is sought, to make sure that victims are looked after. This office has a history of supporting our law enforcement officials here,” said Quisenberry.

Quisenberry supervises a team of prosecutors, investigators and support staff, and trains new office team members and law enforcement professionals.

Now, he wants to take on the head mantle of the office and be the next Brazos County Attorney.

"I want to continue (those) traditions and hopefully push us forward in some new directions that will increase those goals,” said Quisenberry.

Quisenberry is a graduate of Texas Tech University school of law.

He practiced law in Lubbock for a few years, then made route to the Brazos County to accept Rod Anderson's offer to join the attorney's office.

"There's no part of this office and there is no facet of what the county attorney's office deals with that I haven't been involved with or had my hands in for years now,” said Quisenberry.

Quisenberry hopes that if he were elected, he can help advance prosecution of family violence and create a rapid response team for those cases.

"There is a 72-hour window after an individual is arrested for family violence where, by law, they cannot bond out of jail. That 72-hour window is a crucial opportunity for us with our victim assistance coordination to make contact with victims of family violence and make sure that they know we are here and we want to help."

Quisenberry also wants to progress what the office does for cases regarding driving while intoxicated, especially when alcohol is not involved.

"Drugs, whether it be illegal or prescription drugs, are becoming more and more prevalent as the intoxicant when the individuals are endangering our community while driving while intoxicated."

His goal is educate the courts and law enforcement officers on how to handle these particular cases.

"I know what we are doing right, I know what we could be doing better and I am ready day one to take that responsibility to help us achieve the goals we have here,” said Quisenberry.

Quisenberry will be running against Earl Gray for the GOP nomination.
