BRYAN, Texas - There were almost 100 block parties across the Brazos County tonight for National Night Out.
The goal of the event is to heighten awareness for crime and drug abuse, and also encourage people to take part in local anti-crime programs. This event has been going on for 33 years and grows each year.
On Trophy Drive the President of the Home Owner Association says he looks forward to this each year and really thinks it makes a difference.
"We think its important and if you know who your neighbors are then you'll know if something looks right or not, and plus we are just a bunch of old folks who like to meet up and talk," Dennis Fleming said.
Several police officers in Bryan and College Station stopped by block parties throughout the county to speak with their community members face to face.
