COLLEGE STATION, Texas - If you ever wondered why the name Easterwood became the airports official title, now a display is about to explain it all.

15 years in the making and 9 signatures later Jesse Easterwood's portrait will be hung in the main terminal in the airfield.

He was a lieutenant in the navy during world war one before getting killed in an airplane during 1919.

Easterwood was also an Aggie.

"Him and his family was well known to A&M, and so towards the end of the 30's they decided to create the Airbase out here, which then, it didn't even have a name it was just the airfield by campus," John Adams, Class of '73 said.

The airport has been named Easterwood since the '30's.
