COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- A local legend says his final goodbyes to a community he was so involved with.

Lance Jackson has been a part of the Lincoln Recreational Center in College Station for nearly 30 years.
His impact to the community evident with many people coming out to support his next steps.

"My heart is overwhelmed because it shows how much he has impacted people's lives just by his presence and his words that he shared with people," Cheletia Johnson said, the supervisor at the Lincoln Recreation Center.

"I came out today because I wanted to give honor where honor is due,” Jabot’ Colvin, a former coworker to Lance Jackson. “That’s one thing I admired about him: his dedication, his hard work, and his leadership qualities. "

After retirement, Lance is heading back home to Temple to be with his mother.
