COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Last year, College Station ISD did a survey and found that 97 people drove past a stopped school bus in just one day.

This week, is National School Bus Safety week to bring awareness to this on going problem. DPS will be out in full force this week and will be sending officers along several school bus routes throughout the county. A reminder that when you see a yellow bus and the lighted red stop sign, you should do exactly as it says.

"I think people need to get the message that whenever they see this and the lights are flashing, everything needs to stop. I don't know if you know this, but even EMS has to stop, that's how important this is," Hector Silva, CSISD Dir. of Transportation said.

Law enforcement officers are asking to be on the look out for any cars who drive past a stopped school bus and to record their license plate numbers.
