NAVASOTA, Texas -- Recent efforts by the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce hope you will think of Grimes County in your future weekend travels.

On Thursday, they hosted their monthly chamber mixer. It was held at the Pecans Lake Golf House to highlight brand new meeting room and restaurant expansion. Coincidentally enough, it was where it was held that could be a representation of what’s to come in Grimes County.

"The City of Navasota itself is experiencing a great deal of renovation over the past several years,” said Johnny McNally, the executive director at the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce.

Housing development has begun with all the property already sold. They expect to complete its three-stage development within the next three years.

"We know that this is a desirable spot in three different fronts and it's not surprising that we have six developments in the area that are under construction,” said McNally

Even at the Pecan Lakes Golf Club, they’ve seen already a spike in sales in the past two months.

"I am, I'm very excited, I think it's going to keep going,” said Morgan Eldrige, the assistant general manager at the Pecan Lakes Golf Club. “And with all the people moving into the subdivisions soon, I think it may soon grow our memberships.”

It's a push that the chamber of commerce hopes will bring more traffic to Grimes County

"You can come over and have a good time and spend the day and drive home, “said McNally. “Or we invite you to spend the weekend.”
