Round Rock senior center driver fired after video goes viral

Although his employer did not release the name of the bus driver, they did confirm that the man has been terminated.

Facebook video that showed a senior center driver trying to light a pipe while driving a bus prompted Round Rock police to open an investigation.

The driver has not been charged so we have blurred his face.

The Facebook video has been viewed more than 308,000 times and shared more than 10,000 times.

The video showed the driver trying to light a pipe but speeds off when he realizes someone is watching him. He worked for AGE of Central Texas, a senior center that specializes in those with Alzheimer's and memory loss. He was fired after this video surfaced.

Rob Faubion is the director of marketing and communications for AGE of Central Texas.

"The video does seem to show an alleged illegal activity and, based on that, we immediately contacted the Round Rock police department so they can continue the investigation," said Faubion.

Faubion added, "so the supervisor called the individual in to personally ask them about the video. The employee in the video did not admit to or deny any wrongdoing but during the course of the conversation with their supervisor, it became apparent there was due cause to fire them ... even without an admission of guilt from the individual. The video does show him speeding off very quickly from the situation. That alone is dangerous driving and that alone is reason enough to dismiss this individual."

Faubion also said no one else was on the bus with the driver.
