BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas -- Speed limits are changing in the Brazos County.

Beginning June 6 the posted speed limits on University Drive (FM 60) from Discovery Drive to west of Turkey Creek Road will be lowered.

It will be a 10 Mile Per Hour reduction that was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission for the safety of motorists and workers during the construction of the new Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at FM 2818 and FM 60.

TxDOT says these speed limits will be in effect until the new interchange is completed, at which time the new design will be re-evaluated for appropriate speed limits.

TxDOT asks all motorists in the area to be alert to the workers and traffic control on the roadway. Orange flags will be installed on the new speed limit signs to catch drivers’ attention. In addition, message boards will warn drivers of the new speed limits.

This speed reduction is part of the $14.1 DDI project contracted to Knife River Corporation-South. This entire project is expected to be complete in approximately two years.
