Thetas gear up for Rock the Casa 5K

Texas A&M Kappa Alpha Theta chapter will host a fun run to benefit local advocacy centers.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Get your running shoes ready for the Rock the Casa 5K put on by the Texas A&M chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta.

The 1.5 mile fun run starts Saturday morning at the Theta house near the A&M campus.

The sorority organizes and hosts the event every year to raise money for CASA- Voices for Children and Scotty’s House which are two local advocacy centers in the Brazos Valley.

And, April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, so the Thetas want to do all they can to help these organizations.

“We don't get the privilege of getting to interact with the children because they're in emotional unstable places, and so we really just have to do behind the scenes work and put everything into these events because it's the least that we can give but the most we can give of the money that we raise from these philanthropy events,” said Theta Molly Murphy who helped organize the event.

Rock the Casa 5K will also include a silent auction that goes on from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Some notable items in the auction are two adorable puppies, a Mexican resort vacation, and a Jimbo Fisher signed football.

It all starts at the Kappa Alpha Theta house.

Race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the run begins at 9 a.m.

It’s $15 to register tonight, and $25 on race day.

Registration includes a t-shirt, food, and chip-timing.
