VERIFY: Is Target coming to south College Station?

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A rumor has been spreading through the community of a new Target coming to south College Station.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A rumor has been spreading through the community of a new Target coming to south College Station.

There is a 40-acre lot open diagonally of HEB on William D. Fitch where it is said the store may be going up.

The Director of Economic Development for the City of College Station, Natalie Ruiz, is aware of the rumor.

“We have asked them who the big anchor tenant will be but they haven’t told us that yet,” Ruiz said.

A potential reason that these rumors have stirred up about a two Target town is because big box chains have been looking at the area.

Megan Boyd, public relations for Target, said the only future locations in Texas on their list are in Austin and Houston.

The locations set for Texas are scheduled to begin construction in October.

At this moment in time, Target does not have plans of opening a new location in College Station.

Shoppers may request a new location through Target’s customer hotline.
