Police are on scene of a two car crash involving a horse near Coopersville.

Deputies were called to Cleveland Street near 80th Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Police on scene say the horse was loose when two cars pulled off to the side of the road to let it cross. That's when a third vehicle did not stop and crashed into it. After the collision, the driver lost control and hit one of the vehicles pulled off to the side of the road.

The woman, a 27-year-old from Wyoming, Mich., was pinned into her vehicle. She was extricated and taken from the scene by an Aero Med helicopter. She is listed in critical condition.

The horse did not survive.

The driver of the second car was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
