Behind the Arm of Kilkenny & the Bats of the Red Hot Offense, A&M Sweeps Cornell

Mitchell Kilkenny (2-0) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He finished his outing with 6.1 scoreless innings, scattering one hit and one hit batsman while striking out eight.

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies improved to 7-0 on the year as they toppled the Cornell Big Red, 8-2, Saturday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Mitchell Kilkenny (2-0) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He finished his outing with 6.1 scoreless innings, scattering one hit and one hit batsman while striking out eight. Christian Roa got the Aggies out of the seventh inning, retiring two of the three batters he faced. John Doxakis fanned two of the three batters he faced in the eighth.

Cornell didn’t get on the scoreboard until the ninth inning, snapping a string of 19 scoreless fame by A&M pitchers.

Chris Andritsos led the Aggies at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three doubles, one walk, two runs and two RBI. Cole Bedford, Logan Foster and Allonte Wingate each tallied two hits for the Maroon & White.

SCORING SUMMARY

B1 | Texas A&M made the Big Red pay for walks issued to Zach DeLoach and Michael Helman to start the frame. Andritsos knocked the two free passes in with a double down the leftfield line. A&M 2, Cornell 0.

B2 | Cole Bedford gapped a one-out double to leftfield, moved to third on a groundout by Wingate and scampered home on a wild pitch. A&M 3, Cornell 0.

B4 | Andritsos drew a leadoff walk and Will Frizzell reached on an error by the pitcher. Foster knocked in Andritsos with a single through the left side and Frizzell scored on a double play ball by Wingate. A&M 5, Cornell 0.

B6 | Andritsos and Frizzell started the inning with doubles. After Frizzell’s RBI knock, the Maroon & White added runs with single by Foster and a sacrifice fly by DeLoach. A&M 8, Cornell 0.

T9 | Cornell loaded the bases off Cason Sherrod with a walk by Ryan Krainz, a single by Dale Wickham and a hit-by-pitch by Will Simoneit. Kyle Gallagher pushed one run a cross and Jason Apostle drove in another with a sacrifice fly. A&M 8, Cornell 2.
