Texas A&M and Texas set to renew rivalry on the diamond

The No. 19 Texas A&M Aggies renew their most played rivalry when the Aggies host the Texas Longhorns on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park Tuesday evening for the 369th meeting.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 19 Texas A&M Aggies renew their most played rivalry when the Aggies host the Texas Longhorns on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park Tuesday evening for the 369th meeting.

The game will air on the SEC Network with Sam Ravech (play-by-play) and Ben McDonald (color analyst) on the call. The game also streams on SEC Network+ which provides digital-only events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One). All games this season will be broadcast locally on SportsRadio 1150/102.7 The Zone.

Texas A&M is ranked in the top 25 in the nation in triples (3rd - 14), WHIP (6th - 1.14), ERA (7th - 2.79), walks allowed per nine innings (13th - 2.91), double plays (16th - 31), hits allowed per nine innings (16th - 7.35), K-to-BB ratio (17th - 2.87)

The Aggie offense is pouncing early in 2018, scoring first in 23 of the 32 games on the season, including scoring in the first inning in 16 games. Texas A&M is outscoring opponents 33-3 in the first inning, 60-10 in the first two frames and 84-21 in the first three innings. Texas A&M hasn’t yielded a run in the first inning in the last 13 games.

Michael Helman ranks seventh the nation in hits (53) and 25th in batting average (.402) and Zach DeLoach ranks fourth in triples (5).

Aggie closer Nolan Hoffman is unscathed in the ninth inning of games. In 7.2 innings of work, he’s scattered four hits and one walk while striking out 10. For the year, Hoffman is 3-1 with four saves, a 0.72 ERA, .208 opponent batting average and 29 strikeouts in 25.0 innings.
