Today's the last day to submit your idea for millions of Texas drivers to see

TxDOT's highway sign contest ends on Tuesday, so get your ideas in!

HOUSTON — You see the signs all of the roads. Now, it's your turn. TxDOT has been looking for the best and brightest signs with the holidays in mind for its digital highway sign contest. Today is the last day to submit your idea.

“The holidays are really pressure-filled,” said Donna Amtsberg with the University of Houston. “It's the most stressed Americans have ever been.“

To avoid making a tough year even tougher, TxDOT came up with a clever competition.

"This contest was just a great opportunity for us to say, OK, this is another way we can engage drivers if they can come up with their own clever and catchy phrases then maybe that'll actually encourage them to change their driving habits and improve their driving habits," said Veronica Beyer with TxDOT.

Hundreds have submitted their creativity to end up on signs along highways across the state.

Beyer is hoping entries like, ‘Ho Ho Hope your seatbelt is fastened,’ ‘Be the brightest bulb on the tree. Drive sober' and ‘He sees you when you’re buckled. He knows when you drive baked’ will make a difference.

"The ultimate goal is to save lives on Texas roadways,” said Beyer.

TxDOT reports reveal there hasn't been a fatal-free day on Texas roadways since November of 2000.

"That's sad,” said Beyer. “It's very sad and it's something that we can change because the data again tells us that the reason people are dying on our roadways, the majority of these crashes, are due to human error."

You can submit your last minute entries for a chance to win and have your message featured across Texas. Here is where you can submit.

The top 10 will be posted on TxDOT's social media and the three with the most interaction will win!
