No, the City of Bryan is not shutting off its water supply

"The only action being taken right now is asking residents and businesses to conserve water as much as possible."

BRYAN, Texas — Despite many rumors circulating on social media, the City of Bryan announced on Wednesday that it is not shutting off its water supply.

"These rumors are false," the city said in a statement. "... The only action being taken right now is asking residents and businesses to conserve water as much as possible."

The city added that water is only turned off when private leaks are found -- unless a medical necessity exists or officials need to protect the water system integrity.

The city added that a boil water notice will only be issued when its water pressure drops below 20 psi and conserving water helps lower that chance.
