Since 2015, one Austin couple has made it a Valentine's Day tradition to 'wing it.'

The couple formally dresses up and spends their date night eating chicken wings at Pluckers. They always mark the occasion by posing for a photo outside the restaurant.

2018 was no exception. But this year, it was made extra special by the chain: They set up a table cloth, candles, Valentine’s decorations and a reserved sign on the table.

This year, one Austin couple's Valentine's Day was made extra special by Pluckers: They set up a table cloth, candles, Valentine's decorations and a reserved sign on the table.

William Lemke told KVUE someone at Pluckers corporate office first took notice of the couple's tradition in 2015 after Lemke posted a photo of themselves on Reddit.

"The first year they sent me a gift card in the mail. The second year I didn’t post anything," Lemke said. "The third year I posted to /r/Austin and Pluckers reached out to me again offering a free meal at a location of our choice. This year their corporate social media manager reached out to me before Valentine’s Day to schedule our Valentine's date."

You're probably wondering why this tradition started in the first place.

"We are not really into Valentine’s Day so we thought it would be funny to dress up formally to go get chicken wings," Lemke said.

And does the happy couple plan on making this a lifelong tradition?

"As long as we are in Austin, yes, we plan on keeping this tradition alive," he said.

We think it's safe to say the couple probably went to home to watch a chick flick.
