COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After helping the Aggies card a season-opening marquee victory over No. 11 West Virginia during the Armed Forces Classic at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, Texas A&M junior guard Admon Gilder has been named SEC Player of the Week by the league office.
Gilder fell just one rebound shy of his first career double-double against the Mountaineers while approaching the Aggies’ first triple-double since 2002 as he tied for game-high point honors with 23 and grabbed a career-best nine boards. Impressively, Gilder dished out a game-high seven assists while committing zero turnovers against WVU’s aggressive full-court defensive pressure. The Dallas, Texas, native was 8-of-12 shooting from the field with a 4-for-5 mark from 3-point range while going a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line.
One of the SEC’s most unheralded performers, Gilder averaged 13.7 points per game as a sophomore last season while leading the team in both assists (120) and steals (60), ranking eighth and second in the SEC in each category, respectively.
