COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M men’s basketball head coach Billy Kennedy confirmed Monday that the Aggies will be without graduate transfer guard Duane Wilson for the remainder of the season.
Wilson initially suffered a knee injury on Dec. 30 at Alabama, missing three games before returning Jan. 13 at Tennessee. He played in each of the Aggies’ last nine games before injuring the knee again during Saturday’s victory over No. 24 Kentucky.
In 22 games this season, Wilson averaged 9.0 points while leading the Aggies in assists (89), assists per game (4.0) and steals (25). The Milwaukee, Wis., native also contributed 45 rebounds and six blocks while shooting 38.9 percent from the field.
Among Wilson’s highlights while wearing the Maroon & White this season was a 22-point against Penn State during the title game of the 2017 Legends Classic that garnered Wilson a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The 6-foot-3 guard also carded a double-double with a season-high 23 points and 11-assists as Texas A&M defeated Buffalo on Dec. 21.
Wilson joined Texas A&M after three years at Marquette for coach Steve Wojciechowski and helped the school make an appearance in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. During 95 career games for the Golden Eagles, the 6-foot-2 guard made 51 starts while shooting 41.2 percent from the field and 68.6 percent from the free throw stripe. He averaged 8.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while totaling 201 assists, 110 steals and 17 blocked shots.
