AT&T warns of ongoing phone scam

AT&T has received dozens of calls in reference to a scam that has swept the area.

It all starts with a phone call from your own phone number leading to someone asking you to verify your AT&T information over the phone.

When we spoke with AT&T, they informed us that the scam is mostly affecting those with the area code "979."

They also verified that they would never ask you to verify your AT&T information over a phone call.

This is not only affecting AT&T customers. If you are with Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile or any other phone carrier you too could receive the call asking you to verify your AT&T phone information even though you are not an AT&T costumer.

AT&T is aware of the situation and advises not to answer these calls.
