Bryan attorney appointed to lead TABC

Retired brigadier general Bentley Nettles has been named to lead the TABC.

BRYAN, Texas - A local lawyer will soon take the role of Executive Director of the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission.

Retired Brigadier General Bentley Nettles is a Bryan attorney and decorated Navy Veteran who was appointed to the position Tuesday afternoon by the TABC commissioner.

Although nettles has no history with the TABC, he feels his decades of military leadership experience have equipped him with the necessary skills to turn the embattled state agency around.

"What I am hoping to bring to the table is a new perspective, a different way of looking at the cultural lenses and challenges of the organization, and help enable the employees that are already working there to better serve the citizens," said Nettles.

Nettles says he will take the next few months to transition from his current job as an attorney.

He is expected to begin his new position in March.
