City of College Station: Carnival goes through lengthy process

The City of College Station explains the process traveling carnivals must go through to be certified safe to operate.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - If you haven't noticed it yet, the local carnival is back in town.

With lots of fun rides and games for the whole family, but how can you know for sure everything is safe for your kids? We spoke to the City of College Station and they explained the lengthy process the carnival goes through each time it comes to town.

The business will fill out a 10 page permit packet detailing every tent, ride or booth they'll have on the lot. Then after it's approved, the Fire Marshall will head out to the area and inspect every inch of the amusement park, which could take up to two weeks.

"We have the general public attending things like this, families and kids and people like that and you want to make sure it is as safe as possible for those people attending," Rachel Lazo, City planner said.
