Hung jury may result in case closed for teacher accused in inappropriate relations

ANDERSON, Texas -- A hung a jury will result in possibly closing a case that involved an Iola ISD teacher accused of inappropriate relations with a student.

“All of the evidence available was presented to the Grand Jury however, the Grand Jury was unable to reach a consensus as to what result should occur,"  says District Attorney McLain. "To indict a case, at least 9 members of the 12 man Grand Jury must agree. If a Grand Jury is unable to reach a consensus, it has the same effect as a ‘No Bill’”

The incident was first reported near the end of September.

According to the District Attorney, the relationship was between a student and a teacher in the district. The student was 18 and the teacher was 22 and the incident happened off school property.

McLain says the teacher will surrender her teacher license.
