Judge Gives Partial Ruling in Tommy Wallis Contempt of Court Case

Judge rules she did not find any individuals in contempt of court.

AUSTIN, TEXAS-- - AUSTIN, Texas-- Thursday night, a Travis County judge partially ruled on Wallis' motion to hold five BISD leaders in contempt of court, saying that she will not hold any BISD employee or board member in contempt at this time.

The judge plans on taking the weekend to determine whether or not to hold the school district itself in contempt for inadvertently allowing employees to leak sealed documents to local media.

Wallis and his team changed their strategy in court Thursday, asking the judge to hold BISD board members and employees in civil contempt of court, rather than criminal contempt. That decision eliminated the possibility of jail time for any of the five BISD leaders named in the case.

The judge determined there was no evidence that any of the five named BISD leaders and employees leaked the documents or directed anyone to leak them.

The judge has promised to giver her full ruling after the holiday weekend.
