UPDATE: Man in viral Snook ISD video no longer with the district

Snook ISD Superintendent released a statement about last week's video of an employee disciplining a student.

SNOOK, Texas - The man captured on camera mishandling a young student is no longer with the district according to Snook ISD.

This comes after a video was taken by another student before being posted on social media, where it was shared thousands of times.

"The actions depicted in the video are not condoned or authorized in any way by the school," the district said in a statement. "The individual in question is no longer employed with Snook ISD. Snook ISD is working with law enforcement and the Texas Education Agency in investigating the matter."

The district also said background checks were performed on the former employee prior to his employment in August of 2015.

In the statement, the district's superintendent said he will be taking a closer look at all personnel.

"As Superintendent, I am ordering a review of Snook ISD faculty and staff use of discipline and restraint. Our top priority is for our students to be treated in a safe and respectful manner when they are in our care."
