'Blue Bloods' star Tom Selleck writes in former Dallas PD chief for president

Actor Tom Selleck plays a police commissioner on CBS's Blue Bloods, and he showed he also has the utmost respect for law enforcement in real life.

After Donald Trump's stunning victory in the presidential election, Selleck announced on The View that he wrote in former Dallas Police Department chief David Brown's name for president.

Brown was praised on the national level for his guidance throughout the aftermath of the ambush-style attack that killed five Dallas police officers in July.

"That man showed such grace and leadership. I was deeply touched," Selleck said of Brown.

He said he decided to write in Brown's name because he did not support either of the major party candidates, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, in the presidential election.

Brown retired from the force in October.
