Sam Houston State's Football Game with Prairie View A&M Moved up to September 7th

Game will also be televised on ESPNU.

HUNTSVILLE- Another game on the 2017 Sam Houston State football schedule has shifted its date as ESPN announced on Wednesday that the Kats' game at Prairie View has been moved to Thursday, September 7th and will now be televised on ESPNU.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 but now will kick two days earlier at 6:30 p.m. at Prairie View’s Panther Stadium, which just opened last season. It is the second game the Bearkats have had picked up by ESPNU, joining its much anticipated season opener against Richmond on August 27th.

“This is a great opportunity for us to continue to showcase our university and program on a national stage,” Bearkat head football coach K.C. Keeler said. “For us to have each of our first two games of the season on national television is incredible for our players, alumni and the university as a whole. The new stadium there is a beautiful venue which will provide a wonderful backdrop for the game.”

The Bearkats will be facing off against the Panthers for just the second time in program history, and the first time since the 1985 season. It will be Sam Houston’s first trip to Prairie View.

Sam Houston has been in the postseason six straight years, including trips to the national championship game in 2011 and 2012. They also advanced to the semifinals again in 2014 and 2015.

Meanwhile, the Panthers are coming off a 7-4 season and third-place finish in the SWAC.

Last season the Bearkats had all 13 of its games televised, including 11 on either ESPN2 or ESPN3.
