Women's Basketball Ranked 23rd In USA Today Coaches' Poll

Texas A&M’s women’s basketball team was ranked No. 23 in the initial USA Today Coaches’ Poll on Thursday. The Aggies have now been ranked in the preseason Coaches’ Poll for 11 consecutive seasons.

This is the 21st consecutive week that Texas A&M has been ranked in the Coaches’ Poll, after staying in the poll during the entire 2015-16 campaign. The Aggies are one of six SEC teams to receive a Top 25 ranking.

The Aggies, no stranger to a tough schedule, have eight games against teams ranked in the initial poll. No. 3 South Carolina (Feb. 23), No. 11 Mississippi State (Jan. 29 & Feb. 19), No. 13 Syracuse (Dec. 21), No. 14 Tennessee (Feb. 12), No. 19 Kentucky (Jan. 8), and No. 24 Florida (Jan. 15 & Feb. 2) are on the Aggies’ schedule. In addition, SEC foes Missouri (Jan. 19), Auburn (Feb. 5) and Georgia (Jan. 5) received votes in the initial poll.

The Aggies return two starters, Khaalia Hillsman and SEC All-Freshman pick Anriel Howard, from the team that finished second in the SEC in 2015-16, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the 11th straight year, posting a 22-10 record.
