COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A Houston-based health care company has announced plans to expand to College Station and city leaders said they are excited about the prospects it will bring to the Brazos Valley community.

Houston-based Kelsey-Seybold Clinic will build a second Contact Center in College Station, according to a statement released Thursday. The facility will be one story, about 25,000 square feet located at 1204 Copperfield Parkway. There will be plenty of space around the new facility to allow for future expansion projects, according to company officials.

Company officials said they foresee significant growth within the next five years. They said they want to expand their facilities to support the demand for patient care.

"Working with the team at Kelsey-Seybold has been a privilege, and we are grateful they have chosen to tap into the Brazos Valley's skilled and growing workforce," said Matt Prochaska, who is President and CEO of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation.

The new facility could offer up to 600 full time positions, and also bring about jobs in facilities management, information technology and human resources. It will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will have 200 workstations, training spaces, conference areas and break areas, according to the statement.

“The vibrancy and reputation of Kelsey-Seybold perfectly matches and will enhance the expanding quality of life enjoyed by residents of our city," said College Station Mayor Karl Mooney. "We look forward to the development of a prosperous and mutually supportive relationship for many years to come."

When it came to choosing College Station, officials said while there were many factors, one that stuck out was location.

"The College Station area is ideal for an operation like this because it has a low incidence of weather-related events – and for our group, providing a stable, 24/7 Contact Center operation is essential,” said John Lyle. Lyle is the Senior Vice President of Operations with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's headquarters are in Pearland and has more than 20 neighborhood health centers in the Houston area. Since 1966, the company has been directly linked to NASA missions and the health care provided for NASA, according to the company.

The project is expected to be completed by fall of 2021.
