BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas — A Brazos County Deputy was wounded, Friday night, when attempting to make a routine check on suspicious activity, according to police records.

At roughly 10:30pm, the deputy responded to a call of dozens of cars gathered in a pasture. The Deputy saw Arturo Rubio-Martinez, 21, and three other suspects run to a nearby car, according to a probable cause statement.

The suspects allegedly sped away in the vehicle, striking the deputy in the head, even after he put on his police lights and yelled at the four people to "stop."

The Deputy chased the vehicle, which eventually came to a stop after spike strips were deployed.

Rubio-Martinez was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest and Making Alcohol Available to Minors. He was the only suspect above the age of 16 in the vehicle.

He was transported to the Brazos County Jail.
