Son accused in murder-for-hire plot of Austin jeweler indicted by grand jury

Nicholas Shaugnessy is facing a capital murder charge.

AUSTIN — The son of an Austin jeweler accused in a murder-for-hire plot that left his father dead has been indicted by a Travis County grand jury on a capital murder charge.

The charge comes about five months after Ted Shaughnessy, owner of Gallerie Jewelers, was found shot to death in his home.

Nicholas Shaughnessy is accused of arranging his father's murder in order to obtain up to $8 million in life insurance and business and personal property.

Nicholas' wife, Jaclyn Edison, also is charged with solicitation to commit capital murder.

Shaughnessy remains in the Travis County Jail. Edison is out on bond after officials said she provided information to help further the investigation.
