Rudder High School FFA shows appreciation to staff (The social distancing way)

Members from Rudder FFA took the time to record a greeting and put it in a montage video for their assistant principals.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Everyone is having to adjust to the new normal. Technology and social media are playing a big role in how people can make everyday things happen. FFA students at Rudder High School are celebrating Assistant Principal Appreciation Week in the age of social distancing.

"Just by being able to do a video we get to show them truly how much we do appreciate everything that they do," said Emily Adams, a senior at Rudder.

Members from Rudder FFA took the time to record a greeting and put it in a montage video for their assistant principals.

"Just about every event that we do, they support us as much as they can (by) helping out and showing up," Braden Lowe, a senior at Rudder.

Being away from school, the students say its definitely an adjustment. As well, not seeing their teachers and staff has the students realizing how important those people are in their lives.

"I hang out and see my teachers and principals more than I see other people at school," said Rylee Speakman, a senior at Rudder. "It's so crazy to not see them every day and talk to them about what I've been doing and what they've been doing, how they've been and stuff like that."

Shout out to our Rudder Assistant Principals! We sure appreciate all you do. Happy National Assistant Principals Week!!!

The assistant principals said watching the video was amazing, even making some of the staff emotional to see the smiling faces.

"As soon as I started the video I guess I teared up," said Kellee Palmer, an assistant principal at Rudder High School. "It's one thing to talk to them on the phone, it's one thing to get emails when they check-in, but it is another thing to see them and hear their appreciation."

The assistant principal said although they may not physically be with the students, they are always just an email away.

"That's definitely something I want to tell our students; power through and make it through it," said Derron Robinson, an assistant principal at Rudder High School.
