Over the past several weeks, Brazos County has seen a steady increase in the number of flu cases according to Mary Parrish, a health educator with the Brazos County Health Department.
Avoiding the flu during the peak of flu season isn’t an easy task. Every single day we touch surfaces covered in germs and some of the germiest objects we come across daily may surprise you. Toothbrush holders, sponges, keyboards, door knobs, steering wheels, and remotes are among the filthiest.
“Using cleaning items like a Clorox wipe or hand sanitizer can keep these items clean,” Parrish said. “I suggest you clean them at least once a week.”
Aside from getting your flu vaccination, Parrish said washing your hands constantly throughout the day is one of the best strategies for avoiding the flu.
