HEARNE, Texas -- The Hearne Police Department is investigating newly-elected City Councilman Roderick Jackson.

Sergeant Yohner with Hearne police confirmed that the department received a report of allegations involving Jackson and a minor female.

Yohner would not elaborate on the claims being made against the councilman, but says no one has been charged or arrested at this time.

Jackson's attorney, Ty Clevenger is calling the allegations false.

Clevenger's full statement to KAGS News reads as follows:

"Councilman Jackson is fully aware of the rumors and false allegations that have been posted on Facebook, and they are just that -- rumors and false allegations. Hearne has been ruled by criminals for most it's recent history, and they are trying to divert attention from their own crimes by pointing fingers at someone else. The FBI is investigating the city, and we expect the real criminals will be brought to justice in the near future."

Yohner says the department will release more information once the allegations are substantiated or dismissed.

Jackson was sworn into office last Tuesday.
