Wayne Dicky has been a Jail Administrator with the Brazos County Sheriff's Office for almost 34 years.
“I've been a part of building this foundation here. Of putting together an organization that really responds to the needs of the community. Having the opportunity to continue that. To build on that foundation is really important to me” says Dicky.
He believes the chance to serve as the Brazos County Sheriff is just what he needs to keep building on that foundation.
“We have to look at access to mental health care, address the potential that we may have a growing homeless population. Another emerging trend is human trafficking....that really takes a community wide approach and we need to work together to address those issues as we grow.”
Dicky's platform also involves school safety and improving re-entry programs for former prisoners, but to him, it's more than that.
“It’s about service. I really believe in making the community better and it gives me an opportunity to serve.”
Dicky is running against Jason James for the GOP nomination.
