BRYAN, Texas—The Catalena Cowgirls held their own rodeo round-up Friday before the 47th annual Bryan Breakfast Lions Club PRCA rodeo kicked-off at the Brazos Expo Center.

Little cowboys and cowgirls suited up in their best gear for the 12th annual Cowpokes Rodeo.

It’s a chance for children with special needs to interact with the animals, ride horses, learn how to rope, and just have an overall good time.

“It’s our turn to make sure the sport of rodeo extends to everybody,” said Shea Johnson from the Catalena Cowgirls.

“It’s our opportunity to give back,” she added.

The Cowpokes Rodeo ended with dance-off and lunch.

The event was co-sponsored by Sammy Catalena and Readfield Meats and Deli in Bryan.
