Drug drop-off boxes now in College Station

The College Station Fire Department is providing a safe place to dispose of unused, expired, or unneeded prescription drugs. KAGS Kacey Bowen met with the CSFD to learn more about the safe place.

COLLEGE STATION -- Have you ever wondered what to do with unneeded or unwanted medicine?

The City of College Station and the College Station Fire Department is now providing an answer.

The CSFD is partnering with the Brazos Valley Council on Alcohol and Substance Abuse to provide a safe place to dispose of unused, expired, or unneeded prescription drugs.

CSFD Division Chief, Greg Rodgers said this initiative helps make sure the medicine doesn't get into the wrong hands.

"Put those in the right place and not in the wrong hands," Rodgers said.

The drop box is located in the City of College Station Municipal Building. Drop-offs can be made anytime between 8 a.m and 5 p.m.

To make a drop-off, all one has to do is go to the box, open up the top, put in the medicine, and the box will then close on its own.

And making a drop-off is anonymous.

"It can be completely anonymous," Rodgers said.
