COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awarded 70 students from the Texas 4-H program a total of $1.4 million dollars in scholarships.
The Rodeo's president and CEO explained that the Texas 4-H program shares the Rodeo’s focus of developing youth and promoting agriculture through hands-on experience. The scholarship is a small token for these future leaders to continue their education.
The recipients represent 47 different counties from across the state and 21 different Texas colleges and universities.
Each recipient will receive $20,000 toward a four-year undergraduate degree. Students were selected by Texas 4-H officials based on the students’ involvement with the program, academic achievements and financial need.
These scholarships represent a portion of the Rodeo’s annual commitment to youth and education
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been promoting agriculture since 1932 by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage and provides year-round educational support within the community.
