KAGS Pet of the Week: sweet & adorable, Flan

One woman is going above and beyond to save pets from the streets of Navasota, like Flan, the KAGS Pet of the Week.

NAVASOTA, Texas—She goes above and beyond every day.

Lori Toliver is the Animal Control Officer for the City of Navasota.

She’s a former police officer, and for the last six years, Toliver has run the city’s animal shelter, working almost every day to get animals off the streets.

“We try to find homes for everybody, whether it’s a chicken or a duck or a dog or a cat,” said Toliver.

Toliver does whatever it takes to make sure the animals brought in to the shelter are given the love and attention they deserve.

And, she doesn't stop there.

She spends most of the day at the shelter, interacting with the animals. She also gives away dog food and houses, and organizes adoption events to help the animals find homes.

Just like Flan, she’s our KAGS Pet of the Week.

This adorable, one-year-old mix is just as sweet as she can be.

Flan would make a great inside dog. She’s calm, and loves attention.

The lovable dog was living on the street just a short time ago, and now she needs someone to give her a place to call home.

Toliver said they have around 14 dogs at the shelter who also need homes.

And, as they’re waiting to find their forever homes, Toliver will continue to love them and give them the attention they deserve.

“I treat them like my own, and care for them like my own,” said Toliver.

The Navasota Animal Shelter will have an adoption event this weekend during the Texas Birthday Bash in Navasota.
