COLLEGE STATION - Officers, sheriffs, deputies and wardens all joined together to serve a greater purpose.
TIP-A-COP is a night when officers trade in their normal duties, to serve the community in a different way.
"I can get their silverware, get their condiments, bus tables, anything to help raise money for the Special Olympics," Deputy Shane Moynihan said,
Moynihan and other law enforcement took drink orders, refilled waters and got to work Thursday night at Razoos Cajun Cafe in College Station. All the tips they collected goes directly to Texas Special Olympics.
"We raise money for them to travel, their uniforms, or anything that will help them and their sports and for them not to have to pay," Moynihan said.
Officers said it's good for the community to see them in a more relaxed and fun atmosphere, but the greatest part is the feeling at the end of the night.
"Seeing a smile on their face is worth it," Moynihan said.
