Local fourth grader reads all Texas Bluebonnet Books

A fourth grader at Anson Jones Elementary school made it her mission to read all the Texas Bluebonnet Books.

BRYAN, Texas — For students inside Anson Jones Elementary School, if they read five books off the Texas Bluebonnet Book list, they get a party.

Well, one student not just read five, she read ALL the books on the list.

Stephanie Vazquez is in fourth grade and she says her biggest passion is reading.

"It is a place where I can express myself freely," she said.

So, at the beginning of the school year, she told her teacher, Ms. Platt, that it was her mission to read all 20 books on the list this year.

Last year, she read five, but wanted to prove to herself that she could read them all.

And, she did. In just six weeks, Vazquez whizzed through all the books.

Platt says this is rare.

"As far as I know, this is the only student that has read all of them," she said.

For Vazquez, she said it makes her proud.

"It makes me happy to know that I was the student who read all 20 books," Vazquez said.
