New details released in College Station manhunt, arrest of suspect

Jamarious Davis ran from members of SWAT Sunday after they tried to serve a warrant on him. After a nearly 3 hour manhunt, he was arrested hiding in an attic.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The College Station Police Department has released new details behind the arrest of a man who caused a nearly three hour manhunt between Bryan and College Station Sunday.

Jamarious Davis, 29, of Brenham, is charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and making a false report to a law enforcement officer. He had an outstanding warrant for assault on a family member, although it is not clear what county the warrant stems from. Davis has also been named as a person of interest in the assault on a child at a hotel in College Station early Sunday morning.

College Station police said they went to a home on the 4000 block of College Main Street in Bryan to serve the warrant on Davis.

Officers at the scene said they saw Davis jump out of a second story window. College Station police, believing Davis to be dangerous, issued a shelter-in-place order for the neighborhood, hoping to find him quickly. The order was in place for nearly three hours as law enforcement began searching for Davis. Texas A&M campus and the Westgate shopping area were not affected by the order, according to Officer Tristen Lopez with the College Station Police Department.

Police said a man returned to his home on Nagle Street and found what he believed to be a break in. His back door was open, he said, and there was insulation on the floor. He left his home and told police, who went to the home and found Davis hiding in the attic of the house. Davis was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital after police said he suffered minor injuries after jumping out of the window on College Main Street.

When officers arrived at the hospital, Davis began fighting with them, they said, and was refusing treatment by doctors.

The child who was hurt at the hotel in College Station was listed in serious condition, according to Officer Lopez on Sunday afternoon. Their current condition is not yet known and the nature of their injuries has not been released.

Davis is being held in the Brazos County Jail on $268,000 bond. He has not been charged at this time with the assault at the motel on Sunday morning. At this time, he is considered a person of interest. This is a developing story. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
