Upcoming Aggie Ring Day canceled; 6,500+ rings will be shipped to students

Ring Day was scheduled to take place April 17-18.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas —

Similar to many other upcoming events, this popular Aggie tradition is being disrupted by the precautionary measures needed to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Ring Day was scheduled to take place April 17-18, but will now be shipped directly to recipients at no cost to them.

Over 6,500 students were set to receive their rings, with an anticipated 50,000 people in attendance, but due to the CDC’s recommendation to halt gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks, The Association of Former Students decided the cancellation of the event was in the best interest of all attendees involved.

Ring recipients were notified March 17 of the cancellation, and they will receive an additional email March 23, allowing them to set a delivery date between April 2-17.

The Association of Former Students wants recipients to know that this ceremony disruption does not lessen the importance of the Aggie Ring, and the achievements that it signifies are still strong and true, and that the Aggie Spirit will always prevail.

Additionally, the Campus Muster Ceremony and Family Weekend have also been canceled.
