LAHAINA, Hawai’i- Texas A&M heads to the Maui Jim Maui Classic inside the Lahaina Civic Center December 14-15. The Aggies open the tournament at 9:30 p.m. CT Friday against UC Riverside, and concludes the tournament at 11:30 p.m. Saturday against No. 8 Oregon State.

Friday’s matchup marks the first between UC Riverside and Texas A&M in the two programs’ history. The Highlanders are 2-6 on the season, but have faced three Power 5 opponents already. Malou De Kergret leads UC Riverside with 11.1 points per game.

Oregon State (7-1) has only loss on the season, coming at the hands of then-No. 1 Notre Dame on Nov. 24. The Beavers, who reached the Elite 8 last season and the Women’s Final Four in 2016, are led in scoring by Destiny Slocum at 15.0 points per game.

The Aggies (6-2) enter the tournament having won two straight games. Four Aggies are averaging at least 10 points per game—Chennedy Carter (19.1), Aaliyah Wilson (14.9), Kayla Wells (11.1) and Ciera Johnson (10.4). In the Aggies’ last outing, Texas A&M dominated Central Arkansas 84-27, marking the Aggies’ biggest margin of victory since the 2015-16 season.

While in Maui, the Aggies have taken in the sights of the island, attended a luau and visited with local schoolchildren.

After the tournament, the Aggies return to the mainland to host Southern California on Wednesday, December 19 at 5 p.m.
