COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- In March of 2001, Texas Task Force Once became a federal team. Six months later, they got their first FEMA mission.
A mission that came on a day that will remain in history forever - September 11, 2001.
Seventy-four Texas Task Force One members were deployed to New York City to help sift through rubble of terrorist attacks on the twin towers.
And today, 17 years after those attacks, Texas Task Force One is on the road again. On the road to a different disaster, but with some on the same members of that dedicated 9/11 team.
Sixteen members were deployed Tuesday morning to help in North Carolina, as the coast prepares for Hurricane Florence.
And for the members of Texas Task Force One, any and each event they respond to, is an opportunity to make an impact not just in Texas, but across the country.
