COLLEGE STATION, Texas - People coming to Bryan College Station last year provided a boost to our economy.
The visitors bureau says tourism accounted for more than $523 million dollars of revenue to the region.
In the fall rates on hotels go up 20 to 80% which is where the millions of dollars come in, as well as retail shops, restaurants and liquor stores.
While 2015 had very high numbers, 2016 has had a slower start.
"We had great oil and gas boom here for a while and would have a lot of companies that would stay throughout the week in our hotels but we have noticed a little bit of a drop off in that over the past year or so," the CEO of CVB Shannon Overby said.
