BRYAN, Texas — Santa’s come to town early this year and the children at CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan were surprised with presents by his elves today.

It’s a time of giving and that is exactly what the Ronald McDonald house is doing at the pediatric ward at CHI St. Joseph.

“It’s a very special day for Ronald McDonald House Charities where we’re able to spread Christmas cheer and bring so many of the donations we receive from our community, many toys games, stuffed animals, books, and just bless the families here,” said Ronald McDonald House hospital program manager Shannon Cashion.

Families staying at the hospital were surprised today when Santa's elves knocked on the door to deliver presents. These toys are donated from all across Brazos County.

“This time of year, we receive toys all over our community, from local churches, from organizations at Texas A and M universities so many of our local businesses. Even individual families will come and donate supplies and those supplies we give right back to the families this time of year,” said Cashion.

Ronald McDonald House in Bryan College Station has been doing Santa's elves for four years and receives more donations each year.

"This is not where you want to be during the holiday season and so having a child in the hospital is a very stressful time for these families, it’s especially difficult during the holiday season...as we build awareness, we’re able to reach and bless so many more families every year," said Cashion.

The elves are currently serving 20 families at CHI St. Joseph and will also visit the children at Baylor Scott & White Health. To see what toys you can donate to help these families, you can visit Ronald McDonald House Charities' wish list.
