Seven on Seven tournament brings economic spike to BCS

The centralized location makes Bryan-College Station the perfect spot for thousands of high school competitors and their families to visit the area.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The twin cities are expecting a major economic spike in the coming days, thanks to the annual seven on seven tournament.

Competing high school football teams from around the state    will bring thousands of visitors to our area on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

According to experience Bryan- College Station, the area's centralized location is three hours or less from 80 percent of the state's population.

That has made BCS a great area for seven on seven, benefiting not only those who travel to play, but the Bryan-College Station area.

"We expect somewhere around 10 thousand people over a three day span... We estimate that this event brings into the area about anywhere between 1.2 to 1.5 million dollars to the community, and in the summertime where there's no students, there's no other people in town, that's a huge deal for our community... So you have your restaurants, you have your hotels and your attractions... but the money kinda spreads out through everybody," said Dominique Powell, the Director of Sports and Events at Experience BCS.

The Seven on Seven tournament starts Thursday at Veterans Park.
